WePreserve Forum 2008

DPE/Planets/CASPAR/nestor are hosting a 'WePreserve' Forum on the preservation of digital contents on the 17th of October 2008 to operate in conjunction with the DPE/Planets/CASPAR/nestor Joint Training Event: Starting out: Preserving Digital Objects - Principles and Practice. Participants in the Forum will have the opportunity to hear presentations from prominent specialists in the field of digital preservation who will also be available throughout the event for discussions.

The WePreserve Forum will be held in the conference hall of the Novotneho Lavka, a three minute walk from the National Library, please see map. Participation is free of charge but will be limited to 40 participants. The deadline for registration is 13 October 2008.

Benefits of Attendance

This event will introduce participants to several European Digital Preservation initiatives, providing an insight into cutting-edge research and development activity from a number of EC funded projects including DPE, Planets, CASPAR and SHAMAN. This Forum will also present a selection of practical tools and approaches that are currently being used or developed to assist with the long-term preservation of digital information. This event provides participants with further networking opportunities to meet other researchers, international experts and practitioners across disciplinary and national boundaries.

Target Audience

This event will be of value to practitioners and researchers from the archives, libraries and museums sector, as well as other institutions such as data archives, government departments, legal and commercial sectors with an interest in the topic of digital preservation.

Registration

Registration is free of charge, but will be limited to 40 participants. All participants in the training event 'Starting out: Preserving Digital Objects - Principles and Practice' are automatically registered for this event. The deadline for registration is 13 October 2008.
