DPE/Planets Joint Training Event - Accommodation & Transport

Return to Main Event Page

City Gate Hotel

The City Gate Hotel is located in the Old Town of Vilnius, close to the old City Gates known as Gates of Dawn. The building housing the hotel was constructed at the end of the 19th century. It served as a wayside inn, where tired travelers found rooms, brewery and stables for their horses. In the 1990s, the building was restored and renewed. Now it's a great place for both businessmen and tourists, as it contains comfortable rooms, convenient conference halls and nice interiors. The City Gate Hotel is located 0.5 km away from the bus station and 15-20 minutes walk from the main venues of DPE/Planets training school.

How to get there

By Air:

Vilnius International Airport is the central airport in Lithuania and has daily flights to/from London, Roma, Dublin, Frankfurt, Vienna, Helsinki, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Stockholm, Brussels, Prague, Riga, Tallinn, Oslo, Paris etc. When you go out into the arrival hall you have a number of possibilities. Here you can use ATM machines, exchange money, rent a car, and use the Lietuvos spauda kiosk where you can buy phone cards, bus tickets, snacks and drinks.

Vilnius International Airport is just 8 km or about 15 minutes by car from the centre of the city. The easy way to get from Vilnius Airport to a hotel is by taxi. Only one taxi company has been granted a license to have taxis at the airport. The advantage is that the drivers can speak a little English; the disadvantage is that they are not the cheapest ones.

From the airport and to the centre the fair should be about 25-30 Lt. We recommended that you settle on a price before you take the taxi.

There is a bus service from the airport to the center of Vilnius every 10-15 minutes. The bus stop is just to the left as you exit the arrivals hall. This is the cheapest way to travel. You buy your ticket from the driver for 1,40 Lt. or at the Lietuvos spauda kiosk for 1,10 Lt. Minibus No. 15 goes via the city centre, a ticket costs 3 Lt.

A number of minibuses also go via the city centre (numbers 1, 2, 4, 5 or 62). A ticket costs 3 Lt.
